For those of you who are new here, my name is Kelsey and my passion is health and nutrition. I am 28 years old and just gave birth to my first babe and the light of my life, Grayson Levi. To kick off the re launch of my blog, I wanted to share some of the back story about my life and why I am here writing this today.
I have to be honest, body image has always been an issue for me. I remember even in my early adolescent years wondering if I was “bigger” than I should be, constantly comparing myself to other girls my age. It followed me for years, throughout junior high, high school, university, even pregnancy AND post partum. This isn’t something I open up about often, but it is my reality and I deal with it daily. Over coming these issues did not happen over night, this is still a work in progress and I want to share my experiences with you about what health truly means (spoiler alert: its not what jean size you are).
Flashing back to finishing high school and thinking “what the hell am I going to do with my life?”… Well I stumbled upon the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics and immediately knew this was what I wanted to pursue.
During Uni, many of my friends and family showed interest in my food choices which led to countless recipes that I had to type up and send via text message. This is why I decided to start my blog, it was a way to share my passion with everyone and motivate myself to stay on track with my healthy lifestyle. After graduating things got busy, and eventually the blog became my last priority. I found a career in Paediatric Nutrition that I was absolutely loving and I just could not find the time or motivation to put into writing out recipes and taking photos anymore.
Fast forward to present day, I am currently on maternity leave and I’ve found myself questioning who I am now. When you become a mama you will meet two new people, your baby and yourself. Figuring out who you are as a mama (a totally new person) is hard, and confusing, and rewarding all at the same time. I realized that I needed to keep working on something I am passionate about as “Kelsey” and not just as this new person referred to as “Mama”. That brought me back to my blog, and I have so many experiences and recipes that I am excited to share with you guys! I will be talking a lot about my journey with body image, fitness, relationships with food, pregnancy nutrition, postpartum nutrition and mental health, how to create a healthy family, and so much more. One thing I am very excited to dive into on this platform is baby led weaning, which I will be starting soon and will bring you along with me. I can’t wait to continue this old journey with so many new and exciting topics, and I am so grateful you are here.
