As a way to celebrate the release of my recipe collection “Everyday Eats Made Easy” that launched this week, I am going to do a spin on my “What My Toddlers Ate This Week” series and share with you some easy snacks I prepped my toddlers this week to make our days a little less chaotic. I am very passionate about teaching mamas how to save money on expensive store bought foods (ESPECIALLY SNACKS) while also making nutrient dense foods from home where you can choose the ingredients going in. I know that it sounds time consuming, but hear me out. I have found so many ways to simplify this process and came up with an entire collection of EASY homemade recipes, that any toddler is going to love. There is no sacrifice on flavour, just unnecessary ingredients!
SNACK PREP TIPS
Here are my basic tips for how to make the most of your snack prep.
1. Double the recipe, and freeze half. Almost all of the recipes in my collection Everyday Eats Made Easy are freezer friendly, and can be pulled out of the freezer for a quick easy snack or lunchbox option.
2. Do it when you have time. Not every week has to be the same, you don’t have to stress yourself out by saying “Sundays are meal prep days and I can’t miss it”. I am a very busy mama of 2 with a healthcare career and side business, I find the time when I have it and utilize it in the kitchen.
3. Include your toddler, you can easily get them excited by using my Mini Toddler Collection of Everyday Eats that is FREE to you. It has cute eye catching graphics that toddlers love. They are also almost always more likely to enjoy food when they’ve helped prepare it.
GRANOLA BARS
Who doesn’t love a good granola bar? Well, everyone in my house does, but I don’t love the price on the store bought ones (plus, these ones are made with far less ingredients and no unnecessary additives!). They make a great option for snack or lunchboxes.
FRUIT SNACKS
Making your own fruit snacks at home is so simple, and they taste just as great as the premade ones. These are made with grass fed beef gelatin so you get all the gut healthy benefits, plus the flavour and nutrition of real fruit! Start making these, your kids will be begging for more.
BANANA MUFFINS
I have been making banana muffins for my boys since they were learning to eat solids, originally they started as no sugar oat muffins and now my boys are a little older and love this version, which has 75% less added sugar than the ones you buy at the store! They make a great breakfast, lunchbox, or snack option.
You can grab all of the recipes above in my FREE Everyday Eats Toddler Collection, which is a mini version of the full collection where I give you my top 5 recipes in an easily printable toddler friendly option!
