We’re currently in isolation again due to covid restrictions, which means all restaurants are closed for dine in. This makes date night hard, because usually we try to get out of the house to enjoy time together. We decided to make the best of it and made a delicious festive charcuterie board and paired it with our favourite cocktail at home. Festive or not, charcuterie is always a good idea!
Basics for your charcuterie board
Meat – choose a variety of high quality cured meats (the Italian market is generally a great place to find these if you have one)
ex: salami, prosciutto, chorizo
Cheese – choose a variety of high quality cheese, including soft and hard depending on our taste (again the Italian market is a great place to find a large cheese selection)
ex: brie, flavoured goat cheeses, gouda, cheddar
Crackers/Bread – throw on your favourite crackers and small pieces of baguette
Honey/Jam/Jelly – for me honey is a must, but jam and jelly also go really well if you’ve picked some smooth cheeses
Other – get creative here, you can add anything such as nuts, fresh and dried fruit, fresh and pickled vegetables
Pair with a cocktail: Moscow Mules
Our cocktail of choice for this date night was moscow mules, delicious and refreshing.
Ingredients:
1 & 1/2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 cup ginger beer
Ice
Lime for garnish
Add all ingredients to a mug, stir to combine and you’re done!
